A New Path Forward

The 2021 funding year was an exciting and important year for Brant United Way. Over the course of a two-year community consultation, we connected with hundreds of community members and used what we heard and learned to develop a new approach to funding local services.

Two of the biggest changes that were launched in 2021 was moving to a fully open application process (with any local charity having the opportunity to apply for funding) and launching our Community Impact Panels where community volunteers would be included in guiding the decision on which services to fund.

As a result of these changes, more services submitted applications than any time in the last 20 years, we were able to fund 37% more services than the year before, and we were able to provide a Brant United Way grant to six local services for the very first time.

Stuff The Bus - Funded Program

Last September, Brant United Way was excited to launch our Stuff the Bus program, which provided new school supplies to children and youth that needed a little extra help so they could be successful when they got back into the classroom.

“Stuff the Bus helped over 300 local students in need,” said Cheryl Wiacek, Brant United Way Team Member. “The first year was such a success thanks to our friends at DQ Brant and everyone who bought a cool treat at the Warehouse Sale. Together we raised $10,000 for this great cause.”
