Brant United Way invests in local programs that strengthen our community. We fund initiatives that support families and help keep people safe, fed, and connected in Brantford, Brant County, and Six Nations.
Each year, organizations can apply for funding through three main categories:

Grant Categories
​
1. Local Program Enhancement ($2,500 – $15,000)
-
Supports organizations delivering services/programs locally that are facing increased demand.

Provides funds to make improvements, modifications, or additions to existing services so they can better meet community needs.
​​
2. Local Program Delivery ($15,000 – $30,000)
-
Supports local or regional organizations providing programs or services in the community.
-
Open to any registered non-profit or charitable program/service that requires additional funding to continue operating locally.

Provides funding options for organizations/programs not eligible for category 3
3. Local Essential Services ($30,000 - $50,000)
-
Supports local programs/organizations (regional organizations are excluded from this category) providing an essential service in the community.

Eligible for programs/services where less than 50% of the program budget is provided by other sources of funding.

Designed to sustain high-need services that are critical to community wellbeing and safety.

A limited number of grants are available at this level.

Funds are limited, and applicants are encouraged to request only what is required.

​Organizations may apply for more than one program; however, more than two applications per organization are discouraged.

Eligibility​​​
​
Every applying organization must pass pre-qualification as part of the application process to ensure compliance with Brant United Way’s criteria. Basic eligibility includes, but is not limited to, the following:

The organization’s mission and activities align with Brant United Way’s Campaign Focus (Supporting families, and keeping people safe, fed and connected in our community).

The organization provides services to residents of Brantford, Brant County, and/or Six Nations.
-
The organization must be a qualified donee under the Canada Revenue Agency.
-
A volunteer Board of Directors governs the agency.
-
The agency can provide or has made available: audited annual financial statements.
-
The agency is sustainable, stable, and strong in its operations.
-
The organization aligns with Brant United Way’s values.

Brant United Way does not fund:
​
-
For-profit organizations
-
Organizations that are primarily political in nature
-
Costs for major capital projects including new building construction, major renovations, or machinery.

Organizations that weaken or limit the ability to exercise legally protected rights in Canada
-
Programs primarily focused on the advancement of religion
-
Medical facilities or primary funding for respite care
-
Professional associations, foundations or organizations primarily focused on fundraising
-
The Arts (unless incorporated in children’s programming)

Through these grants, Brant United Way works alongside local organizations to strengthen families, improve community wellbeing, and ensure people have access to the supports they need. By applying, your organization joins us in building a community where everyone is safe, fed, and connected.
